Barcelona FC

Futbol Club Barcelona is a sports club based in the Spanish city of Barcelona. Also known by the short form Barça and often referred to as "FCB" or simply "the Catalans", the side have played in La Liga continuously since 1949, when it was reinstated after World War II. Under General Franco's dictatorship, it won five league titles between 1940 and 1950 but failed miserably during his reign until 1955, largely due to the fact that there were many more teams than before 1939, which significantly diluted the competition and allowed them to to take first place each season - a feat they repeated. The conflict between Catalonia and Spain has been going on for years, but the rivalry is best known as El Clásico. This football game pits two of Europe's biggest clubs against each other - Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona!

True to its club motto Més que un club ("More than a club"), FC Barcelona continues this symbolism in the 21st century through social commitment. In Spain it is known as the most successful and dominant football team at all levels; at European level, they have won more trophies than any other club, with six La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League wins and the Italian Serie A league title.

With four more European Cup victories, FC Barcelona is one of the most successful clubs in Europe. In 2009 they became the second Spanish team (after Real Madrid) and the first Catalan side to achieve the treble - which includes La Liga titles and cups like the Champions League or the UEFA Super Cup. The team's other achievements this season include being top of the El Clásico table despite losing 4-0 to archrivals Real Madrid last week: "FCB's players have produced another historic feat by becoming world champions at the 2010 Club World Championships in Korea/Japan.

FC Barcelona is the most successful team in Spain and has been for years. Not only did the club win three different trophies last year, but they were one of just two teams alongside AC Milan to achieve the treble, winning both La Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in the same calendar year ! And as if that weren't impressive enough, have they gone unbeaten in every game? I call that dominance! So it's no wonder that players from all over the world want a piece of Barca gold: they can easily make a career there, maybe even become president one day, especially since this football club is so popular among all walks of life
